Fresh from picking up the prestigious Best Casino & Gaming Advertiser Award at the Performance Marketing Awards we review an exciting and successful evening at the Gosvenor Hotel in London for the Dublinbet Team.

Dinner Suit? Check. Bow Tie? Check. Minty Tic Tacs? Check.

It was a night when the good and the great of the digital marketing world gathered to celebrate and recognise the fruits of their labour over the past 12 months. A night to let their hair down, to raise a few glasses and to murder a few classics on karaoke. This was the Performance Marketing Awards 2012.

And we were there, hob-nobbing with some seriously famous brands like Sky, Virgin Atlantic, B&Q, Argos and Nectar. All of whom were up for one award or another and represented amongst the 700-strong guests.

Hosted at the swanky Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, the night got off to a great start with a champagne reception – has there ever been a bad night that started with a champagne reception? I can’t remember one. In fact I can’t remember any!

That was quickly followed by a delicious three-course dinner, complimented by some fine, expensive (£39 a bottle) wine. Lovely jubbly.

Then came the main event, hosted by posh-boy comedian Miles Jupp – better known as Archie the Inventor from Balamory to those of you that have any kids under 10. His repertoire ranged from poking fun at the working class to taking the mickey out of the working class. Not so much a one-trick pony, more a one-trick thoroughbred. Actually, he was quite funny.

And before we knew it the awards were getting dished out left right and centre.

Soon it was the Best Casino & Gaming Advertiser Award. That was us. Thankfully there were no drumrolls or pregnant pauses as the presenter announced; “The winner is… Dublinbet.com!”

We all did a double-take before it quickly sunk in. We’d won. We’d beaten off competition from Paddy Power and partners Commission Junction to win an industry leading award. Our small in-house marketing team had competed with the big boys and won.

Up we trotted to the stage for our moment in the limelight with the grinning Archie… sorry, Mr Jupp.

After that we were whisked away for some photos and quotes. We half expected a GMTV-reporter to be stood outside for a live interview.

The rest of the night is a bit of a blur and the Wednesday morning hangover has dulled the senses but one look at our shiny new award, which will take pride of place in our Dublin office, doesn’t half perk us up.

We’ve already got our eye on next year’s prize.

In the final installment of our series of iGaming Super Show Rough Guides, we bring you the best places to eat out in Dublin.

As official City Sponsors of the iGaming Super Show in Dublin the team here at dublinbet.com bring you our final round-up of things to do and places to see in and around Dublin. This time giving you the benefits of our size 36 waists with a round-up of the best eateries that our fair city has to offer.

Dublin’s culinary scene is about more than Irish stew and potatoes with almost every taste catered for from across the globe. No matter whether money is no object or you’re on a budget there’s something for everyone.

Wine n Dine

So let’s start at the top. If you need to impress a prospective client or affiliate then you’ll want to go somewhere plush. There aren’t many business deals concluded in McDonald’s right? Therefore head along to the uber-posh Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud (21 Upper Merrion Street). It’s the only restaurant in Ireland with two Michelin stars and as the name suggest serves deliciously expensive French cuisine. Expect to pay over €100 each for dinner, but know that it’s worth every cent. Lunch is a bit more affordable but will still set you back €50 or so.

If top class Italian food is more your thing then give Dunne & Crescenzi (14-16 South Frederick Street) a try. Locally sourced produce served in an unpretentious manner will make you feel right at home. Perfect for a light lunch or a slap-up old-style-Italian-get-together the food is “bellissimo”. But brush up on your Italian wines before you get there as there’s a wide and varied selection on offer. Here at Dublinbet.com we’re working our way through the list!

For a proper meat-feast look no further than FXB Steak and Seafood Restaurant (Pembroke Street). Its 28-day dry-aged steaks are pretty special. It’s a great place for entertaining guests and although at the upper end when it comes to costs you won’t be disappointed. We can personally vouch for the indulgent pork belly dish. Hmmmm pork.

Nice n Easy

The magnificently named The Pig’s Ear (4-5 Nassau Street) restaurant is a great place to sample some good honest Irish grub. With dishes such as “Beef ‘tongue n’ cheek’ Guinness Pie” and “Hob Nob Biscuit & Homemade Jam” you can be assured that it’s down to earth food you’ll be eating. Owner Stephen McAllister is a well-known face on Irish television and the high standard of food on offer at the restaurant has been recently rewarded with a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Where else would you expect to find one of Dublin’s most modern Asian Fusion restaurants but in the… Italian quarter of the city. We don’t do ‘obvious’ here in Dublin. But don’t let that put you off a visit to KOH Restaurant (7 Jarvis Street) where you can sample a taste of the orient and beyond in the ultra-sleek surroundings of this trendy eatery. On the menu, you’ll find influences from Thai, Chinese, Malaysian and European cuisine, and favourites like Massaman Lamb and Aromatic Chilli Pork are all there.

An alternative option for Thai food is Baan Thai (16 Merrion Road), located opposite the RDS. It’s gorgeous interior is matched by the officially endorsed cuisine on offer. It’s a little bit more expensive than some of the other restaurants in the area but the fact you’ll have to book in advance is a measure of its popularity.

Cheap n Cheerful

In and around Temple Bar there are loads of restaurants to choose from but one of our favourites for a quick bite and an even quicker drink is Milano (also known as Pizza Express in the UK), where the pizzas are wafer thin and the toppings generous to a fault. The house wine goes down a treat and you’ll be in and out in 45 mins, the perfect pit-stop for re-fuelling on a night out.

And finally we couldn’t complete any restaurant round-up without mention of the legendary Eddie Rocket’s. With over 20 outlets in Dublin you’ll never be too far away from one of the biggest, tastiest burgers you can find. Based on a 1950′s American Diner the Eddie Rocket’s franchise looks set for world domination. Hand-pressed burgers and hand-dipped shakes makes for the ideal drop-in and chill-out burger joint – The perfect alternative to a Turkish Kebab on the way home from a serious night out as it’s one of the few places where you’ll get food after 9pm in certain parts of town.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Rough Guides to Dublin and learned a little bit more about what our great city has to offer. So when you visit for the Super Show get out there, see the sites, meet the people and enjoy the craic.

See you soon.

If you're heading to Dublin for the iGaming Super Show you'll want to know the best places to enjoy a drop of the black stuff. In our latest Rough Guide we suggest 10 of the best pubs and clubs in Dublin.

There’s no such thing as a bad pub in Dublin, but there are a few great ones.

Whilst we can’t lay claim to having visited them all – God knows we’ve tried! – we know what makes a good pub a great one.

It won’t surprise you to know that Dublin doesn’t have a shortage of drinking establishments. From stylish cocktail bars to spit-and-sawdust pubs, Dublin has it all. So whether it be the people, the pints or the prices (or a combination of all three) we’ve drawn up a list 10 must-visit hostelries in Dublin that you should pay a visit to enjoy the ‘craic’.

Café en Seine

40 Dawson Street, Dublin (www.cafeenseine.ie)

If you punched “1920′s Paris” in to Doc Brown’s time-traveling DeLorean you might well expect to end up in a place like this. It’s stunning interior in an opulent art deco style is reminiscent of turn-of-the-century France. Highlights include a beautiful glass atrium with real 40ft trees, enormous glass lanterns, a Louis XIV bust, grand piano and a French Hotel lift running between the three floors of this spectacular bar. Even with such a grand space they still manage to retain a great atmosphere thanks to clever design and excellent jazz.

Whatever time of day, Café en Seine is abuzz with atmosphere and is the perfect place to enjoy a slow pint, cocktails with friends or a special night out. Lunch is served daily from noon and by night it turns into Dublin’s most stylish bar. It’s open until 2.30am for coffee, food and drinks and is excellently located near St Stephen’s Green park, on Dawson Street parallel to Grafton Street.

O’Donoghues

15 Merrion Row (www.odonoghues.ie)

A very traditional Irish pub which is highly recommended. This is where the band ‘The Dubliners’ was created and where many local toe-tapping folklore bands perform sitting in the corner table in the pub, 7 nights a week. O’Donoghues is very popular with the locals, which is always a good sign and occasionally the Irish glitterati (yes, we have some z-list celebs too!). It’s busy every day of the week, and is as much a journey through Irish history, with it’s array of drawings and photos that adorn the walls, as a place to drink. Well worth a visit and just about within walking / staggering distance from the official hotels.

Larry Murphy’s

Lower Baggot Street

We have to admit this is a personal favourite due to it’s proximity to our Dublin HQ and the fantastic staff. Larry Murphy’s is the place to experience day-to-day Dublin and is a local hang out, located right on Baggot Street just around the corner from the Fitzwilliam Casino and Card Club. This is where the punters will come to have a break from their poker games, unwind and maybe watch a football match; we hope to see many of you there. This is a must-visit if you want to sample a real Irish experience or enjoy an offering of great snacks throughout the day.

Krystle (Dicey’s)

21-25 Harcourt St (www.russellcourthotel.ie)

If you’re looking somewhere a bit more trendier with pretty girls and even prettier men then make your way towards Krystle’s. Split over several levels it’s very popular for its great midweek offers on drinks, Tuesday pints cost €2, Wednesday pints cost €2.5, Thursday pint costs €3 etc… It’s huge, with 3 floors, 11 bars, 3 function rooms and 3 nightclubs so you’ll never need to wait too long to get served! There’s even a semi-outdoor bar so if the weather Gods are kind during your visit you can enjoy an Irish breeze to chill your Guinness.

Copperface Jacks

29 Harcourt St

If on the other hand you’d prefer a bit of rough then head along the road from Krystle’s to Copperface Jack’s, which is a local legend. No matter which town you’re from you’ll have a club like Copperface Jacks; the one where all the nurses and coppers hang out and a smooch is just a wink away. It’s generally a bit of a free-for-all, with a younger crowd and a great atmosphere. It can be troublesome to get served during busy period so be prepared. Laughs are generally guaranteed as long as you don’t take yourself too seriously.

Octagon Bar at (U2′s) Clarence Hotel

6 – 8 Wellington Quay

If you’re a fan of pop supergroup U2 then The Octagon Bar is definitely worth a visit. Bono and The Edge are owners of the Clarence Hotel and since taking over they’ve given the place a massive facelift to make it one of the Dublin’s most luxurious boutique hotels. The Octagon Bar is famed for it’s cocktails and you never know, you might just bump into rock’n'roll royalty whilst you’re there.

Ron Blacks, The Dawson Bar – Smallest Bar in Dublin

25 Dawson St

Less of a pub. More of a living room.

Filled to capacity at 20 or so customers, Dawson’s Bar is the smallest pub in Dublin. The drinks are cheap and the toilets are dangerous. So much so that the low ceilings are padded so that you don’t bump your head when you’re rising from the throne. One thing you won’t need to worry about though are the queues. As long as you can get in to the bar you can pretty much order from anywhere. It’s a great pub if you’re heading out with a bunch of friends, even better if you want to get to know some local strangers.

Temple Bar

If you’re short on time and still want to experience as much of Dublin’s nightlife as possible then you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Temple Bar area. We couldn’t single one particular pub (there are too many great ones!) so here’s a quick run through of our favourites;

Oliver St. John O’Gogarty’s: A multi-storey pub that’s hugely popular with tourists and hen/ bachelor parties due to it’s live music and good food (massive portions).

The Temple Bar: Quite simply, the Temple pub. One of the first pubs in the area and still one of the best.

Fitzsimons: With bars on all 4 floors, a wide range of live music playing nightly and a late-night cocktail bar and nightclub this one is a must.

Top Tip: Pubs & restaurants in the area are always packed so try to get there early, if you’re late however don’t despair most of the pubs are open till late or have a club. But be prepared to pay ‘tourist prices’

So there you have it. A whistle-stop tour of the best pubs in Dublin. If you know of any yourself then feel free to add them to comments below, otherwise perhaps we’ll bump into you in one of the bars. If so, our’s is a pint of the Black Stuff.

If you’ve not already done so then don’t forget to Register for the Super Show over at the iGaming Business site.

Just when you thought we couldn’t give you any more our next blog article will feature some of the best restaurants to try while in Dublin – well you’ve got to have something in you to soak up all the booze, right?

It's not as if you'll be stuck for things to do in Dublin but if you're at a loose end here's a list of 10 things to do and see in Dublin whilst you're there for the iGaming Super Show in May

Of course your trip to Dublin is all about the Affiliate Super Show isn’t it? But what if it just so happens that you’ve managed to blag a sneaky day either side of the main event to take in our fantastic city? You’re going to want to know the best places to see and the fun things to do so here’s a run down of some of the must-do’s when in Dublin, courtesy of the team here at dublinbet.com

Dublin is a vibrant, multicultural city and has a wealth of points of interest, from stunning architecture and art, to beautiful parks and public buildings; there really is something for everyone. So once you’ve sobered up (or even if you haven’t) why not check out the following:

Dublin City Tour

Dublin is a city steeped in history and culture, but what’s the best way to soak as much up it up in just a few days? We definitely recommend jumping on one of the many city tour buses that roam around Dublin, there’s no better way to see the city quickly and to get your bearings. All main tours offer a hop-on/hop-off service so you can take the tour at your leisure. All tours highlight the main places of interest, the architectural style and people of influence. There are 2 options for the tour:

www.dublinsightseeing.ie look out for the green buses, (multilingual tours start at 9.30am)

check the www.visitdublin.com on the page for Dublin tours, these are the red buses

Prices are around €15 and tickets are valid for 24 hours.

Guinness Storehouse

No visit to Dublin is complete without a visit to the home of Ireland’s national drink – Guinness. The specially designed visitor centre explains the brewing process and ends with a free sample of the black stuff. Mmmmmmmm. If you can still see straight, the bar on the top level of the Storehouse offers spectacular views across the city on clear days. Don’t miss it.

Top Tip: If you visit the Guinness Storehouse while on one of the Dublin city bus tours, you get a discounted entrance to the venue (normally €15). You can also get a discount by booking online at http://www.guinness-storehouse.com/en/Index.aspx

Trinity College Dublin

Dublin is well-known for being a university city, with Trinity College being the most famous. It’s worth taking a walk through the cobbled streets of the College, taking you back to the 18th Century when The Old Library was first constructed. Trinity College Dublin is also home to one of the world’s oldest surviving manuscripts – the glorious Book of Kells, however the entrance fee is a bit steep at €8.50. Check www.tcd.ie/Library/bookofkells

St Stephen’s Green

St Stephen’s Green is Ireland’s best known Victorian park and acts as a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Dublin’s city centre streets – think Central Park in New York, but a bit more relaxed. With over 3.5km of pathways, the Green is the perfect place for a relaxing stroll to blow away the cobwebs or a hangover!

The park is located very close to one of the official show hotels the Conrad, and is just at the beginning of Grafton Street. A great place to enjoy the sun if we get any!

Grafton Street

If you’ve got some souvenirs to pick up or just fancy spoiling yourself then Grafton Street is the place to go. It’s a pedestrianised shopping street that links St Stephen’s Green to Trinity College and is Ireland’s premier shopping district with all the major fashion houses represented.

Top Tip: At the end of Grafton St is a statue of Molly Malone, a legendary figure commemorated in one of Dublin’s favourite anthems ‘Cockles and Mussels’.

O’Connell Street and the Spire

If you don’t find what you’re looking for on Grafton Street then O’Connell street is another massive shopping street. There you’ll also find the Spire of Dublin, officially titled the Monument of Light is a large, stainless steel, pin-like monument 121.2 metres (398 ft) in height, located on the site of the former Nelson’s Pillar on O’Connell Street in Dublin, Ireland.

Temple Bar

The absolute centre of life in Dublin, live music, pubs, street performers all gathered into this hidden away old district of Dublin. No-one should leave Dublin without a visit to this eclectic cobble-street district where the drinks are cool and the welcome is warm.

Top Tip: We strongly advise the ladies to wear sensible shoes as heels get caught in between the paving.

Dublin Pass

If you’re planning a few days of getting to know Dublin then this could be the best purchase you make. Available in 1, 2, 3, or 6 day durations, the Dublin Pass offers free access to 31 Dublin attractions including the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin Castle and Dublin Zoo. The pass also offers discounts across Dublin plus FREE airport transfers!

Aviva Stadium Tour

Follow in the footsteps of your heroes and take a look behind the scenes at Aviva Stadium. Lansdown road in D4 area (very close to Ballsbridge Inn and Sandymount hotel).

Originally Lansdown Road Stadium, the Aviva was rebuilt recently and opened in May 2010. You will have the opportunity to see this impressive award winning stadium, all the areas which are crucial to the team on a match day – from a walk down the players’ tunnel to a seat in the team dressing room. Contact tours@avivastadium.ie, visit www.avivastadium.ie/index.aspx or call 01 238 2300 for more information. (Adults €10)

When is a Casino not a Casino?

Please note that Casino Marino in Dublin is NOT a casino! It’s actually an 18th Century house, and while it is generally regarded as one of the best examples of neo-classical architecture in Europe, you don’t want to go there for a night’s fun! It takes it’s name from the Italian meaning ‘small house’ rather than somewhere to gamble.

However, if you do want to visit a casino on your trip (of course you do!) then visit our very own Fitzwilliam Casino and Card Club.

If you’ve not already done so then don’t forget to Register for the Super Show over at the iGaming Business site.

As the Super Show fast approaches we help you find your way around the city with our Rough Guide to travel in Dublin for the iGaming Super Show.

In our last blog we looked at where to stay for the forthcoming iGaming Super Show in May. With the Show fast approaching we’re looking at how to get around Dublin.

After a flight into an unfamiliar city the last thing you want to worry about is how to get to the hotel, but with our guide you will be able to arrive, safe in the knowledge that you’ve got the journey to your hotel all figured out.

Getting from Dublin Airport

The best options for getting from Dublin airport to the city centre and your hotel are by coach, bus or by private taxi. Here’s a quick run-down of your options;

Aircoach

This is probably the best way to get to and from the Airport to your hotel. These luxury, air-conditioned coaches basically travel around 2 circular routes, both of which cover drop-offs at Super Show hotels and the RDS itself.

Airport – Ballsbridge/Donnybrook: Stops at – Gresham Hotel (O’Connell St), Trinity College (Grafton St), American College (Merrion Sq North), The Schoolhouse Hotel, Ballsbridge Inn (Pembroke Rd), Herbert Park Hotel (Merrion Rd) , RDS (Merrion Rd), Bewleys Hotel (Simmonscourt Rd)

Airport – Leopardstown: Stops at – Gresham Hotel (O’Connell St), Trinity College (Grafton St), Stephen’s Hall Hotel (Leeson St Lower), Burlington Hotel, Hampton Hotel, Donnybrook Road (Old Wesley RFC), RTE, Montrose Hotel, Radisson Hotel, Stillorgan Village, Sandyford Luas

Getting on the Aircoach at the airport is easy enough;

Terminal 1 – The Aircoach stand is on your left when you exit the terminal building – you can’t miss it.

Terminal 2 – Follow signs for ‘Buses & Coaches’, cross the footbridge, then exit down the escalator on the left-hand side. Aircoach representatives will be on hand to greet you

Fares: from €6.00 single journey or from €12.00 return journey

Airlink

The Airlink service offers a slightly cheaper but less comfortable transport option. Look out for the green double-decker buses with a big €6 printed on the side!

These buses only take you to O’Connell Street and they don’t do hotel drop offs in the D2 and D4 areas where the Super Show official hotels are located. So this is fine if you want to be dropped off in the city centre, but not if you’ve arrived at 1am, tired and just want to get to your hotel.

Again they’re easy to find when you exit the Airport;

Terminal 1 – Available directly outside the terminal building, just across the road

Terminal 2 – Follow signs for ‘Buses & Coaches’, cross the footbridge, then exit down the escalator on the left-hand side. Look out for the Airlink signs.

Other coach/bus operators servicing the airport include Dublin Bus, Flybus and Urbus

Fares: €6.00 single journey or €10.00 return journey

Private Taxi

If you’d like to be entertained on your journey to your hotel then a Dublin taxi is the way to go. From righting the world’s wrongs to last night’s football, they’ll bend your ear about anything. Always friendly, and never short of a word or two, they’ll fill you in on the best places to go, as well as the worst!

There is a taxi rank immediately outside both terminal buildings, you’ll probably see a long queue there! The service is quite good so you shouldn’t need to wait long. The meter starts at €4.10 and there’s a €1 charge for every extra passenger.

Expect fares to cost around €25-30 one way from airport into D2-D4 area.

Getting around Dublin

The centre of Dublin is fairly compact so it’s often easiest and quickest to get around on foot. But if you’re traveling a little further afield a comprehensive bus and tram system operates across the city which is cheap and easy to use. When going out at night we’d recommend booking a taxi from your hotel. The hotel concierge will be able to advise on roughly how much it will be to your destination but generally expect a minimum cost of about €7 to get from Ballsbridge (the Super Show area) into the city centre.

Taxis

Dublin is absolutely full of taxis and in the evenings that’s all you see in the roads. Anytime you walk out into the street almost every third car is a taxi so you ll never have to wait long to be served. All taxi drivers are usually extremely friendly and chatty – especially the Irish ones – and by the end of the ride you should have made a new friend for life!

Buses

Tickets for buses are always purchased on the bus and drivers don’t accept notes, only coins, so you might need to visit one of the local shops to free up some loose change.

Timetables and itineraries are posted at every stop and the buses are pretty punctual but they can get very busy around rush hour. Prices start from €1.20, for more information check www.dublinbus.ie

All the official iGaming Super Show hotels are well served with buses going by every 15min, (approx and depending on time of day) and the bus stops are nearby the hotels’ entrances.

For the Bewleys Hotel the RDS is a short walk away but get on bus number 4, 7, 7a, or 8 to get into the city.

The Conrad has a bus stop just outside. To get to the RDS though you’ll have to take more than one bus as there’s none that go direct so ask reception for more details.

Dart

The Dart is Dublin’s train service and is perfect for going into town and enjoying the views on the way. It extends from the north to the south of town, from Malahide and Howth down to Greystones in Co Wicklow. For more information check www.dublin.ie/transport/dart.htm

The stations serving the area near the RDS are Lansdowne Road and Sandymount, these stops are close to all the official hotels except the Conrad and the Radisson Blue. For Dublin City Centre get off at Connolly.

Prices start from €1.40 and they run all day from 6am to midnight.

Luas

The Luas is Dublin’s tram service. One serving the north side of town only, the other serving the south side only. The carriages are very modern, spacious and run every couple of minutes. More information is available at www.luas.ie

Hop on – Hop off

Dublin has 2 companies doing Hop on – Hop off tours of the town. Well worth it if you have a limited amount of time to visit the city. They run from about 9am to about 5pm, and you will find many multilingual tours amongst them.

You don’t need to book in advance and can pay on the spot at any of the designated bus stops, but if you book online you’ll get a discount. Prices are approx €16 per person. For more info visit http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/citytour.aspx or http://www.loveireland.com/

Ghostbus

Another way to see the city is by indulging in the spooky Ghostbus tour. This runs in the evenings and you can find out more here: http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/ghostbus.aspx

Top Tip: You can get free airport transfers with Aircoach if you buy a ‘Dublin Pass’. The Pass offers free entry to a range of Dublin attractions plus special offers across the city.

We’ll have more info about the Dublin Pass in our next blog where we’ll take a look at the must-see attractions to visit during your time in Dublin. Stay tuned.

If you’ve not already done so then don’t forget to Register for the Super Show over at the iGaming Business site.

As official City Sponsors of the 2012 iGaming Business Super Show we're back with a series of Rough Guides to make sure you make the most of your visit to Dublin. Here's the first about the 3 official hotels for the show.

They’re a discerning bunch at iGaming Business.

Like some kind of talent show judges they’ve chopped three official Super Show hotels from the list after they failed to cut the mustard one way or another last year. It obviously takes a lot to impress our very own Simon Cowells!

Chosen based on their proximity, price, quality and all-round goodness are the Bewleys Hotel in Ballsbridge and the Conrad in the City Centre. Plus there’s the addition of the Sandymount Hotel to offer a rounded range of hotels to choose from.

Of course we rarely, in fact never, stay in hotels in Dublin – who stays in hotels in their own city? – but we’ve done our research, read some books, spoken to the tourist board and, like a modern-day Top Cat, tipped the concierges with a Euro-on-a-string to get the lowdown on each hotel.

As you would expect all three hotels command a high level of standards and are well situated for affiliates to enjoy the Show and the City itself so here goes with our take on what you can expect at each of them.

Bewleys Hotel, Ballsbridge. Rated Three Stars

Part of the Bewleys Group which has a number of hotels in the city to it’s name, this hotel is perfectly located for a short stroll to the venue at the RDS. Depending how quick you can walk, or how hungover you may be from the, ahem.. networking the night before, it should only take you five minutes to get there.

If you have a neck that a blowtorch couldn’t make red then you could of course get a taxi but you’ll probably wait longer on it arriving than it would take to walk.

As for the hotel itself it is a beautifully restored former 19th Century Masonic School house and will give you a real flavour of old Dublin. Despite it’s historic exterior the hotel has a contemporary and relaxed feel and is popular with business and leisure visitors given that it’s also near the business district and about a 20 minute walk from Dublin City Centre.

The hotel has a couple of restaurants; Go to ‘Tom’s Bar’ if you’re after a Burger and a Pint or visit the ‘Brasserie Restaurant’ for something a bit more formal.

The all important wi-fi is free which is a nice bonus and the rooms are very comfortable, all with en-suite bathroom as you would expect.

Best for: Characterful rooms at reasonable prices, right beside the RDS

Conrad Hotel, Rated Five Star

Yes, count them. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5 stars. That means if you’re used to a certain level of lifestyle or just fancy indulging yourself whilst away from home then the Hilton Conrad Hotel is for you.

It may be a 10-minute ride in a cab (approx. €20) but it’s well worth the step up in class if you like that kind of thing.

The Conrad is expected to be a popular choice for the Super Show, meaning there hasn’t been as many gamblers in a Hilton since Paris last visited Las Vegas. Boom boom!

As you’d expect from a top-rated Hilton Hotel the standards are extremely high, as evidenced at the sumptuous Alex’s and Alfie’s restaurants, both of which are thoroughly recommended.

That said, there’s plenty of eateries nearby to satisfy even the most fussiest of palates from McDonalds to a traditional Irish Pizzeria!

The hotel is just opposite the National Concert Hall and around the corner from beautiful St. Stephens Green the biggest park in the middle of town. So if your trip to the Super Show is going to be coupled with some serious downtime then this hotel should be on your list. Everything is available on your doorstep; pubs, restaurants, sight-seeing and fashionable shopping on Grafton Street.

Wi-fi is free in public areas such as the lobby, restaurants and the business centre. If you want it in your room expect to pay €5.00 for 24 hours.

Best for: Excellent service, amenities and nearby city life.

Sandymount Hotel

History was never our strong point at school but one thing we do know is that there weren’t too many ‘dry’ hotels in Dublin. But amazingly the Sandymount Hotel, formerly known as the “Temperance Hotel” did not have a public bar – that, in a building sited on an old distillery too!

Fortunately there’s no such ideology enforced in 2012 and the Sandymount has a modern but homely bar and restaurant to compliment it’s Victorian history.

The hotel is family-run and has all the amenities you’d expect form a surprising big boutique hotel. And don’t miss the gut-busting Irish breakfast in the morning – that will set you up for the day.

The walk from hotel to RDS is optimistically described as ‘leisurely’. Depends how you like your leisure I guess – but give yourself 10-15 minutes. A cab will set you back under €10 so that might be your best option.

Wi-fi is free throughout the hotel which always helps.

Best for: A warm welcome and a cold pint of Guinness (cheaper than in town too).

Feeling Flush?

If you are feeling flush after a win at Dublin’s best casino – The Fitzwilliam Card & Casino Club, why not splash out on a room at the five star Shelbourne Hotel or the five star Merrion Hotel. Both offer world class accommodation and dining.

The Shelbourne:
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/dubbr-the-shelbourne-dublin-a-renaissance-hotel/

The Merrion:
http://www.merrionhotel.com/

Dublin on a restricted budget?

If on the other hand you’re keeping an eye on your cash, there are many other B&Bs around the area of D4 which is where the Super Show is held. You can search online for B&B in Dublin 2 (D2) area and Dublin 4 (D4). D2 is closer to the city centre and D4 is just a bit further out but closer to the exhibition centre. Almost all are very well established businesses and in beautiful Georgian buildings. Feel free to contact our team if you wish some advice from locals.

Summary

It’s clear to see that the hotels selected to partner the Show are of a very good standard, and no matter which hotel you choose you will be well looked after. Here in Dublin we pride ourselves on providing a very high level of personal service and this is certainly the case at these hotels.

To book one of the official hotels don’t forget to visit the iGaming site; http://www.igbaffiliatehotels.com/

We’re thrilled to be able to announce that we’ve been shortlisted in the prestigious Performance Marketing Awards 2012 in the Best Casino & Gaming Advertiser category.

You may remember our recent Trick or Treat promotion for Halloween 2011? Well, this multi-channel piece of activity has clearly caught the eyes of the judges and earned us a place at the awards ceremony.

So it’s a trip to a swanky hotel in London in May for our marketing team, all dressed in our glad rags to find out if we can pick up the award that would recognise all our hard work.

Keep you fingers crossed for us – and we’ll keep coming up with fantastic promotions for our players and affiliates.

Christmas may still be a few weeks away but here at dublinbet.com it has arrived early.

Staring on December 1st, Our Christmas Cashback promotion means our players can grab some festive bonuses throughout the month of December. And for our affiliates there’s the chance to grab an easy €25 stocking-filler bonus just for featuring the promotion, or they could win a Santa’s sack full of cash by winning our €250 affiliate bonus.

€25 Guaranteed Affiliate Bonus

If you’re amongst the first 20 affiliates to feature the promotion – either with a banner or an article on your site – we’ll give you a €25 bonus straight into your affiliate account. All you need to do is email us at affiliates@dublinbet.com and send us the URL of the banner or article.

€250 Prize Bonus

But don’t worry if you don’t make it into the first 20, we’re giving away another €250 to one lucky affiliate who features the promo prominently. Everyone who has a banner or article about it will enter into a prize draw. One affiliate will start the new year with €250 added to their December commission payment in January. Again, just email us the URL of the banner or article at affiliates@dublinbet.com

Banners

We’ve created some fantastic new banners like the one below for you to use. Just log-in to our Affiliate System and you’ll find them in the Christmas Cashback 2011 folder. As ever, if you need any particular size or language please let us know.

The Promo

Full details of the Christmas Cashback promotion can be found on our Casino Promotions page. It’s pretty straight-forward.

We’ll refund player accounts every Monday in December with 10% of anything they lost in the previous week. And, unlike other Casino’s bonuses, there is no limit to the amount of cash we’ll give them back. Players need to opt in to the promotion, which they can do at any time (although they won’t qualify for previous payments).

We expect this promotion to increase player acquisition during December and we expect to see more play from our existing players too. So get involved and start promoting today. Remember the first 20 of you who email us will get one of those €25 bonuses. Easy money!
